Sodexo Defence has launched an ambassador group namely, Go Green Team (GGT), as part of their corporate Better Tomorrow Plan. The Go Green Team aims to encourage colleagues and customers to segregate waste resources.
Each site across the Navy South has a Go Green Team member, on larger sites there are two, but ultimately, every Sodexo employee has a part in the Better Tomorrow Plan (BTP). They are the volunteers helping you to contribute to a better tomorrow.
The GGT are currently concentrating on:
- Saving money (Each site is currently collating information on deliveries throughout the month. (Since launching the initiative, they have helped to reduce deliveries in some sites, this has helped reduce the carbon foot print, but also reduce over-ordering and wastage from unused products.)
- Saving their customers and clients money
- Looking at insider information to help you with ideas. They have visited 5 different units, the Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) in Taunton and the Anaerobic Digester (AD) in Walpole to see how waste is sorted and used once again for another product.
The Navy South Go Green Team have started visiting the junior ranks dining halls in the region with an interactive exhibition of everyday items from the waste produced on site and showing what they can become after being recycled.
Mike Callaghan, Head of Business, at GPT Waste, attended the Waste not Roadshow in Yeovilton on the 3rd of November 2015. He has also shown further GPT Waste support by visiting Anaerobic Digestion and MRF sites.
A presentation was shown to explain the purpose of GGT and also what they have been doing since launching the initiative:
Mike Callaghan, Head of Business, at GPT Waste, said:
“GPT Waste are thrilled to be supporting such a great initiative. The Go Green Team are not only encouraging the segregation of waste resources, but also educating others on re-using materials we would often just discard of. Their energy and enthusiasm was visible and I was proud to be part of such a great roadshow.”
He continued:
“Here at GPT Waste we look forward to seeing the future plans for the team and being involved in further events that take place.”
