We are pleased to announce a long-term partnership with Landmarc Support Services on a Nationwide Defence Infrastructure Organisation contract
GPT Waste has been appointed by Landmarc Support Services (Landmarc) in a long-term contract to manage waste streams arising from around 120 sites across the nationwide Defence training estate, and to share its objectives of achieving the best possible environmental outcomes and most efficient delivery of service.
Landmarc works in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to provide services that support the vital training required to prepare Britain’s armed forces for operational success. This includes the management and operation of the UK Defence training estate, comprising a mixture of built and rural estate, located in remote and rural communities.
The Estate covers over 190,000 hectares of land in some of the UK’s most remote areas, and is used by up to 30,000 Defence personnel each day. Much of the estate is accessed by public rights of way and is leased for events when training is not taking place. As a result, the types and volumes of waste from the sites can be difficult to predict. Landmarc and GPT Waste Management face a particular challenge in engaging the many and various users of the estate in reducing and segregating waste, in order to support the Ministry of Defence’s target to divert waste from landfill.
GPT Waste’s Services for this project include:
- 1100lyt Euro bins for General and Mixed Recycling wastes
- 8yrd FEL’s for General, Mixed Recycling and Cardboard wastes
- 240ltrs Euro bins for Food waste
- 8yrd skips for Mixed Metal
- 240ltr Euros for Glass waste

Mary Lavin – Sustainability Advisor – Landmarc Support Services Ltd said:
“GPT, in particular Clare Callaghan and Mike Callaghan, have worked hard to mobilise a network of waste contractors covering our complex estate. It is important for Landmarc to be able to support the local economies in the rural communities where we work, while benefitting from the advantages of a national service provider. We are excited about the potential we have to bring measurable improvements to our waste management outcomes, and we are looking forward to working together over the next four years to realise that potential.”
