Sodexo Defence, a leading quality of life services provider to the Armed Forces Community, has held an annual golf day for the past 20 years. The event allows both Sodexo personnel and clientele to partake in a day filled with golfing activities at the idyllic setting of Sandford Springs Golf Club in Hampshire whilst raising money for Stop Hunger, a Sodexo initiative to donate time, skills and money to tackle hunger, support good nutrition and promote life skills in local communities.
This year’s event, like many before, was hosted and managed by Kevin Ayton, Food Services Manager from Sodexo Defence. With a difference this year – the morning session was allocated to spending time with the golf pros to allow one to one tuition and expert advice on golf matters before the afternoon competition began.
As in previous years, GPT Waste sponsored a number of prizes to support the event, including team and individual prices such as ‘closest to the hole’ and ‘longest drive’.
Team GPT Waste won the team event – by one stroke ahead of the runners up. The team consisted of Tony Baker (Head of Compliance and Team Captain), Mike Callaghan (Head of Business Development), Andy Foreman (Account Manager) and Alex Lewis (Sodexo Catering Manager from Kiwi Barracks).
Tony Baker, Head of Compliance at GPT Waste and Team Captain, said:
“This was a great day out and thoroughly enjoyable, especially winning the team competition as well being a bonus. We look forward to next year’s event.”
