Client: National Service Provider of Rail Systems

Location: Kings Cross – Sheffield Line

Date: Ongoing

Sector: FM Manufacturing

About the Project:

The project itself was initially a 12 month contract and involved GPT Waste working with the site teams to deliver a cost effective and reliable service provision across twelve different site locations along the length of the track from London, through Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Leicestershire to Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

GPT Waste commenced work on the contract in June 2013 after spending 6 weeks previously undertaking site visits to the various locations to assess the access and site layouts. It was also necessary to discuss the variety of waste streams expected from each location and deploy a suitable service provision.

Project Challenges:

Waste solutionThe client operates’ strict environmental controls on their sites and due to the remote locations of some of the sites, it was necessary to work closely with the GPT Waste supply chain to ensure that these targets were met.

In particular, this was important in the selection of the nominated Materials Recycling Facilities for the contract, especially as this covered a large part of central and eastern England. In addition, logistics proved challenging in some areas, as, by necessity, much of the work was undertaken overnight, meaning that skip exchanges needed to be carried out at specified times.

Andy Foreman, Account Manager said:

“After visiting the sites, assessing the way they managed their waste, we were able to produce a bespoke solution that benefited the client. Its been been a joy to develop the account.”
